AECT Awarded Innovation in Professional Growth and Development
by Electronic Document Systems Foundation in Atlanta
Only days after the Anaheim convention, President Jay Harriman was on hand at the Omni Hotel/CNN Center in Atlanta Oct. 28, to accept an award from the Electronic Documents Systems Foundation (EDSF) for Innovation in Professional Growth and Development.
AECT was one of 5 professional organizations and academic programs along with some 26 scholarship winners mostly from graphic arts, journalism and computer science and several individual educators acknowledged by the foundation at its Board of Directors Reception attended by several hundred invited guests.
EDSF promotes “Educational Excellence” across a wide range of programs and purposes with the common theme of print and electronic document creation, management and dissemination including web sites. Harriman said he believes AECT was identified and its web site reviewed by a committee. “I and a couple of other award winners were not aware of EDSF initially when we learned of the recognition they were giving us, but we learned a lot about the scope of their activities and their extensive corporate sponsors worldwide. It was a privilege to talk about AECT and its mission and membership while accepting the award.” AECT’s award was sponsored by Scitex Digital Printing headquartered in Tel Aviv and with offices worldwide.
The foundation met along with “Xplor 2003,” the Global Electronic Document Systems Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. “X”plor began as a Xerox users group in the Los Angeles area in the early 80s and expanded to include users of other related corporate systems and technologies.
