AECT members represent a unique cross-section of professionals, educators and students who work to improve teaching and learning in a variety of contexts through innovations that bring together theory and practice. The 2007 AECT Convention, Learning Within the Kaleidoscope: A Culture of Technology, will provide attendees the opportunity for professional development while enjoying beautiful California.
Stephen Downes, media futurist, has already confirmed as keynote speaker. But more than that, he will attend the convention, participating in various activities throughout the week , As a final session on Saturday, he will reflect on his impressions of the convention. Also invited as a keynote speaker is Marc Prensky, well known for his work with the use of games for learning.
By its nature, the kaleidoscope metaphor encourages a wide variety in content, all of which shifts and turns, always creating a new and beautiful pattern. Technology has become ubiquitous in the culture of education today. AECT members work and learn within a professional environment saturated with technology resources. Technology professionals attending the convention will have the opportunity both to present formal research and to share common experience in living and learning within this ever-changing environment. The content of the AECT 2007 Anaheim Convention will represent the excellence within the research and practice of the members, that which must be preserved and passed on as we live and work within this culture of technology.
