AECT_SL will host live sessions on CAVE Island during the 2011 convention.

Get ready! The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) International Conference in Jacksonville is coming soon and we cordially invite you to attend our 2nd Annual AECT in Second Life pre-conference, held within Second Life.

For this event, colleagues who are scheduled to present the virtual world sessions in Jacksonville will give the audience a "sneak peek" of their upcoming presentations. See the notecard attached to this notice for a list of virtual world-related presentations in Florida (not all will necessarily present inworld at the Second Life event). It also gives AECT members the chance to meet like-minded peers before meeting at the actual conference (or if you are not going to the conference, meeting others virtually!).

This will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, November 3; specific times are forthcoming soon. The AECT in Second Life pre-conference event will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 1-5 pm EST at the Community of Academic Virtual Educators (CAVE Island) & EdTech Island. Each presentation will have 10 mins to describe the highlights of their convention presentation. The Pre-Convention Event will not be recorded, so do make time for this event. Attendance is free!

Make time at the convention to visit us as well. An AECT-SL demonstration will be held at the Convention in Jacksonville on Thursday, November 10th from 9am-5pm in the hallway near the AECT Registration area.

All Virtual World Presentations will be presented in the Hyatt Regency, Floor Level 3 - St John's. Each session is 60 mins. In sessions with 3 presentations, each will be 20 mins in the order of the program. In sessions with 2 presentations, each will have 30 mins. If only one presentation is available for a session, the full 60 mins may be used. Presenters are strongly encouraged to provide Q&A that include SL participants at the convention, Q&A sessions will not be included during the Pre-Convention event. The VWC has been to work with AECT Division Affiliates to develop the personal division meeting spaces on C.A.V.E. Island. If there are areas in need of furnishing and decorating we are still available to assist each group.
