Best wishes for wonderful holidays that are happy and safe . Time flies! It seems we have just finished the great conference at Dallas and now, AECT is planning the Anaheim 2007 conference. Call for papers has been announced. Be sure to check the URL for the further information. (http://www.aect.org/events/call/) If you have any questions regarding the AECT 2007 conference, please feel free to contact Lauren Cifuentes (laurenc(-at-)tamu.edu), President-Elect, 2007 Conference Planner. Here are a few updates regarding to the International Division. Out goal for this year it to support present ID members and recruit more members. It was so exciting to see so many graduate student volunteers supporting the division and serving on the ID board. ID is an unique community within AECT. I encourage all of you to take further steps to support the ID and its members. Nomination Committee: Amy Bradshaw (bradshaw(-at-)ou.edu) Nominations are being accepted for President Elect
of the International Division (to assume office as President Elect at
the annual AECT conference in October, 2007). Anaheim2007 Conference:Lauren Cifuentes (laurenc(-at-)tamu.edu) The International Division facilitates communication
and communities among educational technology professionals
and students world wide and promotes interactions and support
across international boundaries and cultural lines. Some
examples of appropriate proposal topics include connecting
communities of learners, the impacts of cyberculture on international
learners, critical ethnography of distributed learning environments,
culturally responsive instructional design, cross-cultural
studies, impacts of instructional technologies in developing
nations, and localizing or globalizing instruction. Each year ID Award Committee honors the outstanding
scholars in the field and give a award to appreciate your contributions
to the profession field. If you have any question and or would
like to nominate anyone, please contact the coordinators. MORE/2006Award
As usual, this year we had an exciting and wonderful International Auction Dinner. Dr. Cornell, the auctioneer, had made the auction warm, cozy, and fun. There were many items brought by the International Division members for auction from their countries this year. Many of these items you probably were not seen in the U.S. It was the funniest and wildest event at the conference. Please do not forget to join the Auction Dinner in Anaheim. International Hospitality Center It was a pleasure to see so many of our friends gather at the hospitality center over coffee and tea. We are also grateful to all who volunteered their services for the upcoming year. International Division is a great place to serve. This year, particularly, we saw many new members stop by the center and volunteer the duty. Please do come to see our center next year at Anaheim. It was so wonderful so many ID members attended the membership meeting at Dallas conference. We saw many old friends and new friends. It was the best way to show our support to the International Division. A few positions were nominated.
Dallas 2006 Conference Planning: Chih Tu (Chih.Tu(-at-)Nau.edu) Many strong proposals were submitted for the Dallas 2006 conference, some we were unable to accept because of space limitations. The quality of proposals was outstanding. We have been seeing trends in research that focuses on cross-cultural concerns in the proposals. These proposals/presentations represent the best evidence that we are a global community. We highly encourage ID members to submit their proposals through ID since we will get more presentation slots if more proposals submitted through us. Please support our division by submitting your proposals through the International Division. List of ID sponsored presentation in Dallas 2006. ICEM National Representative
Report: Marina McIsaac (mmcisaac(-at-)asu.edu) This year has been an active one for the International Council for Educational Media (ICEM). ICEM (and your AECT National Delegate) represented you at international and UNESCO related meetings in Paris, Frankfurt, Singapore, Cyprus, Nigeria, Iceland and Portugal. This past year also marked the first joint AECT-ICEM conference in Orlando in October, where both AECT and ICEM members met to strengthen ties in an effort to further expand the international work of AECT. Dick Cornell was the ICEM conference coordinator, and worked hard to make our delegates from 10 countries feel welcome as they were introduced to the International Division tradition of hospitality.
ICEM 2006: Eger, Hungary, November This year we had more than seven U.S. ICEM members who attended the conference and presented their research. All U.S. ICEM members enjoyed the conference the outstanding Hungarian hospitality. We encourage you to join us in enjoying the ICEM annual conference in Cyprus 2007. Please see below for more information.
