2020 AECT Summer Research Symposium - CFP

Overview of the AECT Research Symposium.

Learning: Design, Engagement and Definition

The AECT Summer Research Symposium is a research-supported papers for a symposium on learning. This year our symposium will be held virtually on July 22-23, 2020. The resulting book will be published by Springer. This year, all AECT journals, including ETR&D and TechTrends will have editors or representatives participate, recruit future reviewers and solicit articles for possible publication.

It is the goal of the symposium to gather together a select group of scholars to share research for real dialogue and deep discussions about learning experience and learning design. Using Art of Hosting techniques for engaged conversation, we will have very intense and deep discussions of each proposed chapter. Registrants will have access to each of the authors' papers in advance in order to engage the discussion in more depth.

Presentations are in multiple areas including the definition of learning, the design of learning experience, the evaluation and measurement of learning and the engagement of both teachers and learners. Both theory and research concerning learning are welcomed. How we, learners, teachers, learning designers, instructional supervisors, education policy makers, and others involved with education institutions and educational enterprises define learning affects what is learned and to what extent learning is accomplished. The broadest questions that can and should be asked in education are in regards to learning, and yet they remain the deepest as well but these are not often asked.

We have an interesting range of contributions, from traditional research studies to design cases and opinion pieces supported by literature and/or practice. Examples and experiences from outside the traditional boundaries of instructional design and educational technology will also enrich the discussion.

The Symposium will begin July 22, 2020 and end on July 23, 2020 at the end of the day. The conference fee will be $35.00. Registration and the schedule of events will be available soon.

*Registration Coming Soon.

*The health, well-being and security of the AECT community is our highest priority. We are working with the hotel in Jacksonville, Florida on health/safety processes for the summer research symposium in July and the International Convention in November. AECT remains steadfast in our goal to provide a safe and intellectually stimulating experience for those who attend AECT events. We will continue to closely monitor the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 situation and its potential impact on AECT events.
