Breakfast with Champions - Celebrating 10 Years

Breakfast with Champions - Celebrating 10 Years

There is the breakfast of champions, and then there is our AECT breakfast with champions. AECT will host its 10th annual Breakfast with Champions on November 4 at its annual International Convention at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago.

This is always one of my favorite events at the convention, said AECT President Xun Ge, professor of learning sciences at the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma. It’s an opportunity to meet and interact with the leading thinkers in learning sciences.

The event will begin at 7:00 a.m. on November 4 in the Red Lacquer Room at the Palmer House. It is open to all convention attendees and breakfast is included. The $10 cost for breakfast advance registration is necessary.

The Breakfast with Champions represents everything I love about the convention, said Alison Carr-Chellman, convention co-planner and dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Dayton. Not only is it always substantive, open, and fun, but I get to see so many luminaries in our discipline area. It’s really an opportunity to meet your textbooks and rub elbows with so many smart people. Plus, I get to visit with friends and this year that’s a real joy.

There is also an option for those attending virtually. There is no charge for the virtual option. The virtual sessions are open to any registered participant; bring your own drinks and treats.

The Breakfast with Champions is a rare opportunity to interact in focused ways with some of the legends of our field, said Tonia Dousay, convention co-planner and associate dean of assessment and accreditation at the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Idaho. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this unique opportunity to meet and learn from these giants.

This year’s breakfast will feature leaders in the fields of instructional design, learning technologies, and learning sciences. A few of our champions include:

Rob Branch (Chicago)
Ali Carr-Chellman (Chicago)
Trey Martindale (Chicago)
David Merrill (Virtual)
Tom Reeves (Virtual)
Robert Reiser (Virtual)
Mike Spector (Virtual)
Ellen Wagner (Chicago)

Register now and Stay tuned! Additional champions will be announced as the convention nears.
